Santo Domingo Motors expands operations to Puerto Rico by acquiring Automotores Datsun.

Motorambar is incorporated and acquires the distribution of the Datsun brand in Puerto Rico in 1965.


Motorambar opens its offices on Kennedy Avenue.


Motorambar manages to position Datsun as one of the favorite brands of Puerto Ricans.

Datsun changes its name to Nissan, positioning itself among the main sales and distribution brands in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.


Motorambar acquires the representation of the Infiniti brand and establishes an exclusive sales and service room in San Juan.


Motorambar acquires the exclusive distribution and sales rights of the KIA brand for the Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands markets.


Motorambar becomes the largest independent car dealer in the Caribbean, and relocates its headquarters to Westgate Industrial Park in Cataño, Puerto Rico.
In 2012 Motorambar expands its Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) facilities in Cataño.

In 2013, Motorambar was selected as one of the Best Employers in Puerto Rico awarded by the Kincentric firm. Since then, the company has continued to be part of this select group of companies recognized for their practices and the commitment of their employees. Ambar Infiniti open its doors in the city of Ponce in 2017.

In 2019, Motorambar acquires a second car storage lot, increasing its capacity.


Motorambar commemorates its 55th anniversary by overcoming infinite challenges and looking to the future with a vision of innovation and optimism. Motorambar implements a New Management Philosophy, renewing its Mission, Vision, Purpose and Corporate Values, based on innovation and setting a new guideline for the future.


Motorambar, empresa subsidiaria del Grupo Ambar, establecida en Puerto Rico en el año 1965. Desde entonces, nos convertimos en el distribuidor autorizado para Puerto Rico e Islas Vírgenes Americanas de las marcas Nissan, Infiniti y Kia.

Contamos con una red de sobre 30 concesionarios independientes alrededor de la isla y dos en las Islas Vírgenes americanas. Todos ellos, con capacidad de ofrecer servicios de ventas y postventa.


Located in Cataño, Motorambar main offices have a total area of ​​18,000 square meters of land with 4,700 square meters of offices, meeting areas, training rooms and a customer call center.

The roof of this building supports some 2,000 solar panels that generate energy autonomously to power the company’s facilities, generating 285 KW.


Adjacent to the main offices, the parts warehoused comprises an area of ​​5,000 square meters, 30 feet in height, for the convenient storage of up to 90,000 part numbers.


In addition to the distribution of the Nissan and Kia brands through independent dealers, Motorambar directly operates two dealerships of the Japanese Infiniti brand. These are located in San Juan and Ponce.

In our role as a distributor, we ensure the profitable and sustained growth of the dealer network, seeking, to go beyond supplying them with inventory by also offering them marketing tools to increase the market share of the brands we represent.


We have three large warehouses for accommodating and processing of cars. These lots add up to 110,000 square meters of space with the capacity to store up to 6,000 cars, and feature a high-tech security system and a platform with artificial intelligence.


The center for the inspection of the units before their delivery is located within the facilities of Warehouse 1. It comprises of two lines of preparation, accessory installation and conditioning with the potential to prep up to 240 cars daily.

The auto and parts warehouses are classified by the United States Federal Customs as a free zone warehouse, which allows the export of vehicles that pass through PR for transshipment, allowing exports to other markets.
